What type of stone is best for a headstone?
There are many different types of stone that are deemed suitable for a headstone including granite, slate, marble, and limestone, of these granite would be the best for, longevity, colour choice, style, design and maintenance as it is the most dense and the most quarried in the world. We will discuss all options in further detail when you get in touch, or for more information, look at our headstone page.
How long after someone is buried or cremated can I erect a monument?
You can install a stone monument immediately after a burial or cremation as a concrete foundation will support the monument and surround, but for the surface of the plot and depending on many factors the plot can be dressed with chippings and soil anywhere from weeks after a cremation to 12 to 16 months after a burial, this gives the ground time to subside.
What is a covering slab or tombcover?
These are a large pieces of stone polished or sanded to enclose the top of your loved one’s plot, these are favoured as it eradicates the need for maintenance on the surface of the plot, these can be removed for further additions to the plot and then placed back after an interment.
What is a grave restoration service?
A grave restoration service involves sandblasting, refixing, repointing, and repainting your loved one’s graveside. We will re-etch damaged lettering also.
